Marketplace terms.
Dated 28 September 2026.
The marketplace, when it opens, is where independent developers publish and sell packages for Venutian, alongside the 113 standard packages that ship with the language itself. These terms explain what that means for you when you install a package or publish one.
Packages come from their publishers, not from us
Every marketplace package is written, owned, and maintained by its own publisher. We host it and handle the transaction, but we did not write it, and hosting it does not make it ours. Publishing it keeps the publisher's own ownership and copyright intact; we take a hosting and distribution right, nothing more, and that right ends if their account closes, except for copies already bought before then.
Buying a package
Buying or subscribing to a package gives you the right to install and use it, and to keep a backup copy, under whatever license its publisher has attached to it. It does not transfer ownership of the package to you, and it does not give you the right to redistribute or resell it on your own, unless the publisher's own license says otherwise.
Publishing a package
Publishing a free package needs only a standard account, no fee. Listing a paid package needs a developer registration at 100 US dollars a year, and that one registration covers every paid package you publish under it for the year. You set your own price, one time or subscription, and on every sale the marketplace takes 15 percent, you keep 85 percent. You can yank any version of your own package at any time, for any reason, no review needed; a yanked version keeps working for anyone who already installed it, but stops appearing in search or as the latest version for new installs.
By publishing, you are telling us and everyone who installs it that you have the right to distribute that code, including anything you converted or adapted from elsewhere. Publishing something you do not have the rights to is a violation of these terms.
Removing a package
We may yank or remove a package that violates these terms, infringes someone else's rights, contains malicious code, or carries a credible security vulnerability, with notice to the publisher where that is practical. A publisher can also remove their own package at any time.
Provided as is, installed at your own risk
We do not review every package before it publishes, and we cannot promise that a given package is secure, well maintained, or free of bugs. Installing a package, free or paid, is a decision you make at your own risk. Marketplace content is separate from Venutian itself, which the license covers on its own terms.
