This site is quiet by design. It runs no trackers, no analytics scripts, and no cookies, and it does not sell or share your data with anyone, because it does not collect enough of it to sell.
What we keep
| What | Why | For how long |
|---|---|---|
| A confirmed subscriber's email, chosen topics, the consent text version, the page they subscribed from, and the consent and confirm times | To send what they asked for, and to prove they asked | Until they unsubscribe, then 30 days, then only a keyed hash in the suppression list so a forged signup can never add them again |
| A push subscription's endpoint, keys, and topics | To deliver the push notices they enabled | Until they turn it off, or the push service reports it gone |
| Download counters by day, version, operating system, architecture, and source | To know which builds matter | 400 days as daily counts, then monthly totals |
| A rate limit key, a keyed hash of your IP address and the day | To stop abuse of the signup and download endpoints | One day |
What we never keep or send
Names, raw IP addresses, cookies, tracking pixels, click tracking, browser fingerprints, third party scripts, or analytics of any kind. Every email we send carries the manage and unsubscribe links in plain view, and no open or click tracking; the links go straight to their target.
The terminal update check
Installing Venutian sets up a daily update check that reads a public, static feed and compares version numbers on your own machine. It sends nothing about you: no identifier, no IP address tied to your account, no usage data, and no list of what you have written or run. Turn it off any time; the download page shows how.
Unconfirmed signups
An email signup that is never confirmed is purged after 7 days. A push subscription only exists once you press Enable in your own browser.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own, and none from anyone else. localStorage on your own device holds only conveniences, such as which install tab you last chose, and every page works the same without it. Because nothing here tracks you, no consent banner is shown; there is nothing to consent to.
Erase what we hold about you
Use the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or write to developer@venutian.org, and we will remove your email, your push subscription, and every delivery record tied to them. What remains after 30 days is a keyed hash that only prevents a forged resignup; it identifies no one.
