Terms of use.
Dated 28 September 2026.
These terms cover three things: the Venutian language and its tooling, this website, and the marketplace. The marketplace is not open yet; everything below about it applies from the day it opens.
Using the language and tooling
Your right to use Venutian itself, the compiler, runtime, and standard library, is set out in the license, which these terms do not change. This page is about what surrounds it: the site you are reading, the pages where the 113 standard packages are described, and the marketplace, where independent developers will publish and sell packages of their own.
Acceptable use
When you browse the site, install a package or publish one, we ask that you do not:
- use this website or the marketplace for anything illegal, fraudulent, or intended to harm someone else
- attempt to overload, scrape aggressively, or otherwise abuse the infrastructure that runs the site
- impersonate Venutian, another visitor, or another publisher
- upload malicious code, or code you do not have the rights to publish
Availability
We aim to keep this site, the registry API, the feeds and the marketplace available and fast, but we do not promise uninterrupted access. Maintenance and the occasional outage are both possible, and we fix problems as quickly as we reasonably can.
The update notifier and subscriptions
Installing Venutian sets up a terminal update notifier, on by default, that you can turn off at any time. Email and push notices are opt in, confirmed with a second step, and leave with one click. Using either does not obligate you to anything beyond receiving what you asked for, and stopping.
The marketplace, briefly
Packages sold through the marketplace are published by independent developers, not by us, provided as is, and installing one is a decision you make at your own risk. The full terms, covering how packages are listed, sold, and taken down, live on their own page.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the language and the marketplace grow. When we do, the updated version replaces this page, dated at the top.
